Wow… This is a bit harder than I originally planned for – finding time and motivation to not only make the changes and do the things I want to, but then to write about them. Also, I’ve never had my own website before so I’m trying to figure that out as I go as well.
I have managed to get started on my goals. I have purged at least half of my belongings. Many of them were completely useless – old notes from 6th grade, worn out clothes, or random broken objects, and those were thrown out. For the stuff that could actually be used again, we had a rummage sale. I will admit that I expected better results from the sale. We spent most of the summer putting it together, but when everything was done we only made about $75 a piece. It was a little disappointing, but we got rid of a lot of stuff. What didn’t get sold will be donated or taken to consignment shops. I feel like this was a big step towards decluttering my life, but I know there is still a long way to go.
As you can see from the title of this post, I’ve gotten a new job! I’ve grown to hate the place where I worked previously, and when a new opportunity opened up, I leaped for it. My new job gives me a pay increase of about $5, less overtime, less responsibility, and better benefits. It will undoubtedly require harder work, and from what I hear, I’ll either be working somewhere really cold or really hot, but it will be worth it. I’ve been positively gleeful ever since I put in my two week notice. I have high hopes, and a back-up plan, just in case.
In the meantime, I’m on vacation. I have a week between leaving the old place and starting at the new one. I am taking this time to go hiking some more, and visit my grandparents. I am also finishing projects that I have started and going to get my hair colored purple! I know that last one might seem kind of weird, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and always chickened out on. I figured I should use my good mood over my job to motivate the color change. Maybe I’ll post a picture of it next time!
